Troop 48 Update - 1/24/20

Posted on Thu, Jan 23, 2020:

Dinner is Served – next Tuesday, January 28

Several Scouts working on the Cooking Merit Badge will be preparing meals and desserts next Tuesday and will be asking their fellow Scouts to sample their dishes and pick their favorites during the troop meeting. There will be 12 savory dishes and 6 desserts to sample, so skip your regular dinner that night and come hungry!

Welcome

Welcome to our newest Scout, Jason Dockstader and his dad John. Jason transferred from Troop 331 and is a Second Class Scout. We are glad to have you join us!

Spaghetti Supper – February 7

Tickets for our 65th annual Spaghetti Supper on Friday, February 7 have been handed out to Scouts, so please sell as many tickets as you can. Tickets are $10 each. For every 8 tickets you sell, you earn 1 free ticket. We need all Scouts and parents to help with this event, so please plan to be there on February 7. If you have any questions or need additional tickets, please contact Mrs. Kelley Lee. We will also need each family to bring two desserts on February 7. A sign-up email was sent out for jobs that we need to fill, we still need people to cook noodles on Friday afternoon and dishwasher supervisors. Here is the link to the sign-up:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0e4fadae28a7fe3-spaghetti1

Skymont Summer Camp – June 6-13

The first Skymont deposit is due February 4 and is $75 for Scouts and $30 for Adults. The total cost for Skymont this year will be $190 for Scouts and $95 for Adults. These costs are being subsidized by the Troop by $115 per Scout and $65 per Adult, so we encourage everyone to consider attending summer camp to take advantage of this great deal and make some progress on earning merit badges. Please note that any adults attending Skymont need to be registered with Scouts BSA. More information will be provided at the February 4 Court of Honor, and you can check out their website at this link: Skymont

Scout Sunday on February 9

Please make plans for Scouts and their families to attend the church service at Faith Presbyterian on Sunday, February 9 to celebrate Scout Sunday. We will also take the Troop photo that morning at 10 am in the chapel (don’t be late or you won’t be in the photo!), and then attend the contemporary church service after that in Faith Hall. Scouts should wear Class A uniforms.

Swim Check on March 3 – Date Change

Our swim check will be on Tuesday, March 3 at 7:30 PM at the Germantown Athletic Club, instead of on April 21 that was originally listed in our 2020 calendar. Start practicing swimming now to prepare if it has been a while since you have been in the pool.

New Form for Annual Health and Medical Record for 2020

It can be found online at https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/ahmr/ The forms won’t be due for a few months, but if wanted to make you aware of the new form to use for your annual doctor’s appointment.
