Troop 48 Update - 3/13/20

Meetings and Disease Prevention

As the situation surrounding the coronavirus continues to evolve, we encourage families to take the precautions they feel necessary to keep their family members healthy. Attached is a communication from Scouts BSA on steps everyone can take to prevent the spread of disease. We have not cancelled any troop meetings or campouts, and we will have a troop meeting on Tuesday, March 17. The health and safety of our troop is a top priority and we will continue to monitor the situation and inform you of any schedule changes. We will be taking some time over the next two Troop meetings to review some additional safety procedures Scouts should follow during Troop meetings and on the upcoming March campout such as: proper and frequent handwashing, glove use, covering coughs or sneezes, keeping your hands to yourself and avoiding touching your face, avoiding close talking and increasing and respecting personal space, limiting the number of Scouts preparing meals, having each Scout wash their personal gear, and no handshakes or fist bumps. Of course, anyone with a persistent cough or fever should stay at home.

Troop 48 T-Shirt Orders due March 24

Attached is an order form for Troop t-shirts, the prices and choices are shown on the form. All Scouts must have a Troop t-shirt for Camporee in April and enough t-shirts to wear each day for Skymont summer camp in June or the Summer Adventure in July. Orders and money for t-shirts are due to Mrs. Teri Gulati by Tuesday March 24. We will not be able to accept orders after March 24. You can email your order to Mrs. Gulati at hgulati@aol.com by 3/24 if you can’t be at the Troop meeting. Please consider now if you will need a larger size soon or if you would like a long-sleeve t-shirt for the fall/winter, as we will not be ordering again for several months.

Summer Adventure in July – St. Louis

Our Summer Adventure will be a fun trip to St. Louis July 23-26 (Thursday-Sunday) including the City Museum, The Gateway Arch and the St. Louis Science Center. The cost per person will be $75, and the troop is subsidizing part of the cost. The first deposit of $25 will be due April 7, and the $50 balance will be due by May 5th.  Thanks to Yvonne Gamblin for planning this trip!

New Form for Annual Health and Medical Record for 2020

There is a new version of the Annual Health and Medical Record for 2020. Please use this form going forward. It can be found online at https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/ahmr/. Parts A, B, and C should be completed annually for all Scouts and adults attending campouts and are due to Mr. Richard Ralph by April 28. Part C requires a doctor’s signature, so make your appointments now.

·        Do not leave any lines blank (You must designate at least one adult to transport your Scout on Part A)

·        Do not email the health forms

·        Any changes in medications taken from what is reported on the health form should be communicated to Mr. Ralph so he has the most up-to-date information at all times.
