November Campout - Nov 21-23 – Fee due next Tuesday
The $20 fee for the November 21-23 campout at Waldoxey State Park is due next Tuesday November 11th. Please sign up by the payment deadline. If the payment deadline is missed, the procedure that the Scout must follow to sign up after the deadline is now posted our on Troop website under “Procedures”. Reminder - Eagle Scout Project for Hayden Smith – November 7-8
Please see the attached file for more details and directions to the site. If you are planning to help, please let Hayden know if you haven’t already. Hayden will be providing more information to those directly who have let him know they can work on the project.
Popcorn Show & Sell – November 15th & 16th
We still have some popcorn in our inventory to sell, so we will have one last show & sell until we sell out at Lowe’s on Winchester near Hacks Cross. The times will be Saturday Nov 15 from 9am -12 and if needed, Sunday Nov 16 from 1pm -4 pm. Please let Kim Ridenhour know if you can work any of these times, and we also will need another adult to volunteer. Scout Bucks will be awarded based on the number of hours worked.
Greenery Items for Sale
Because we have to order the Greenery items in cases, we have some extra greenery items for sale. Please see the attached list of items available, and let Gina Eddleman know if you would like to purchase any of these. Thanks to everyone who has sold greenery and popcorn, our profits so far for both are around $4,000, with 60% of that going into Scout Bucks accounts! Please remember to pay any money due for greenery and popcorn orders.
Veterans Day Services
Our own Major Norvel (Dink) Adkins, III (Chet’s dad) will be the guest speaker at the Veterans Day services at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Forest Hill Irene Road on Saturday, November 8th at 8 am and Tuesday, November 11th at 2:00 pm. Let’s support and celebrate our Veterans!
We are Recruiting for New Scouts
The troop is actively recruiting new Scouts as our goal is to recruit around 8 new Boy Scouts by the spring of 2015. Contact has been made with the Webelos leaders of four Cub Scout packs (37, 53, 271 and 286.) If you are friends with the leaders in any other packs, please let Brian Issing know. In addition, if you know of any friends who have 5th grade sons, please suggest a visit to one of our troop meetings.
Updated Troop Calendar and Roster
Attached is a copy of the Troop calendar for 2014-2015 which was distributed at last night’s Troop meeting. Also attached is an updated Troop Roster file. Please print out a copy of the Troop Roster to have on hand in case the Troop needs to mobilize in an emergency.
Eagle Scout Court of Honor – Save the Date & Volunteers Needed
The Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Josh Albert will be on Saturday, November 15th at 5:00 pm. Please RSVP to amyalbert@att.net or 850-0398 asap if you haven’t already. Also, we need volunteers to help set up tables and chairs on November 15th at 10:30 am. Please let the Alberts know if you can help set up. Remember to bring a potluck dish and wear a silly hat for charity.
Thanksgiving Service Project Opportunity
Mr. Brent Snyder will be helping serve a Thanksgiving meal to the homeless on Thanksgiving day. If you are interested in helping as a service project, please contact Mr. Snyder. Please get advanced approval from Mr. Issing if you wish to earn service project hours for Scouting.
Registration Fees for 2015 due by November 30
The annual registration fee for all Scouts is $36 (includes $12 Boys Life) and $24 for all BSA registered adults. Siblings can share one Boys Life subscription. Please pay these fees to Mr. Fred Lee by November 30th. Scout Bucks may be used.
Adult Volunteer Needed – Christmas Baskets
We need at least one adult volunteer to organize the Christmas basket service project scheduled for December 16th. Please let Kim Ridenhour know if you can help with this.
Campout Fees for 2015
Please note that campout fee will increase from $20 to $25 for regular campouts effective January 1, 2015. This is due to increased transportation costs and also to help offset the cost of the Summer Adventure to Washington DC. Also, as announced previously, adults going on campouts will get one campout free per year, starting in January.
