Posted on Tue, May 2, 2017

Awards Court of Honor – this Tuesday, May 2

Please make plans for all Scouts and their families to join us for the Awards Court of Honor at 7 pm in the Chapel. We will have some special award presentations, more information on Skymont, and district Scouting representatives to share information with us about donating to Friends of Scouting. Refreshments will be served in Room 111 after the meeting.

Skymont Fees due Tuesday, May 2

The remaining Skymont deposits and merit badge/activity fees are due on this Tuesday May 2. The last deposit is $50 for Scouts and $25 for Adults. Attached is a list of the merit badge fees that are due. If anyone would like to sign up for the Ocoee River Whitewater rafting trip on Friday of the camp, please also pay the $80 fee on May 2 and let Mr. Matt Jordan know. (Rafting for age 12 & older only and BSA Swimmer).  There is also a waiver that must be signed for the Whitewater rafting trip that Mr. Jordan will provide to those who sign up.

Troop T-shirt Order due Tuesday, May 2

Attached is an order form for Troop t-shirts. All orders and money are due by May 2 at the Court of Honor to Mrs. Peggy Lux. Scouts attending Skymont will be wearing Troop t-shirts each day, so they need enough to get them through the week. You may also turn in orders at the Troop meetings prior to May 2 to Mrs. Kim Ridenhour. Long sleeve shirts are also available to order and won’t be ordered again until next year, so get your order in now if you would like a long sleeve shirt for the fall and winter.

May Climbing Trip – May 5-7

Some reminders on the trip:

· Drop off/Pick up times are different than usual:  5:30 pm on Friday night; 3:30 pm on Sunday

Textile Merit Badge Offering on July 29 – sign up by May 7

Scoutmaster Issing has arranged for a Textile merit badge course as part of his service 'ticket' for his Wood Badge training certification. Here’s a chance to earn a merit badge that only 2,480 Scouts earned last year. The Textile merit badge will be offered on Saturday, July 29th by Mr. William Bettendorf, an employee of the National Cotton Council of America. Be one of the very few to earn this merit badge in 2017! Besides some classroom work, this all-day course will include a visit to The Cotton Museum to see the history of the cotton trade, the old cotton trading floor, and a lot of Memphis history. If you are interested in participating, please send an e-mail to Mr. Brian Issing and you will be placed on the class roster. (Brian_Issing@hotmail.com) He will reply to your request. The class is limited to 16 Scouts and the deadline to sign up is May 7th. First come; first served.
